The Road to The Crucible Begins

Fly now to London for week casting, design, conjuring, dreaming w/ design team & gettin prepped for the icy beautiful start block.

Tweet from Crucible Director Yael Farber today.

Hope we'll get an opportunity to follow along.

Update May 2, 2014 - from Twitter

Does this mean Richard starts rehearsals in a week? I'm positive he's been working on this for a while in any case, aren't you?   I have so many questions for Yael Farber and for Richard about the "re-imagining" of this play.

  1. "icy beautiful start block." No idea what that means but it sounds intriguing.

    1. I wondered why I had so many more visits than usual to my blog today. Thanks Serv for the link to this post. I wonder about that too, "icy" and "beautiful" two words I don't relate with the Crucible. I'm hopeful she will tweet regularly as rehearsals start.

  2. Exciting times as The Crucible at The Old Vic begins rehearsals! I so wish that I could experience Richard Armitage portraying John Proctor! But the whole flying thing and other bills needing to be paid are some hiccups. So my hubby and I sent a donation to the Old Vic, instead.

    1. That was so generous of you and your husband to donate Grati. I also wish I could go and see Richard as John Proctor. Keep hoping airfares go way down for September, but only a dream. Looking forward to reports from those that have tickets.

  3. Thank you for sharing. I have the feeling that this role will demand a great deal of Armitage. And I don't only mean the topic itself. I know, that will take a while but I'm curious about the first critics.

    1. Hello Miss Emms - I agree it will demand much, but in a good way. I think he want to be challenged. This is what he's talked about for a long while now. I admire his bravery in doing this, knowing how all the critics have him in their sights. .

  4. I think he will love it really because he wants to get a really meaty role to show how good his acting really is and there is nothing like a drama for that.
