Not only do you look younger than most 50 year old men I know, you seem to have the energy, and as you say, the curiosity, of someone decades younger.  You are also young at heart, and that is what counts.

Thank you for thinking about us, your fans (well wishers), on your birthday. This year is very special for us too, between your donation to the fan auction of Guy's Iconic Leather Jacket,  and using Orcrist to cut the cupcake on your early birthday video (look forward to seeing it again today). You know us well, and that's nice. 😚

I love listening to Richard's audiobooks. We've had a wealth of his voice narrating/performing a wide range of audiobooks.  And more to look forward to already in September and October.  Thank you Richard and Audible and the publishers, and oh yes, the writers.

Looking forward to the two new movie projects that have been announced for the new year. I admit that I miss seeing his face on my screen, in a movie or TV series.

As long as the filming can be done safely in this Covid-19 world.

On a serious and sad note.

I lost my mother about 8 years ago.  Still today holiday and birthdays are the saddest times, and I really feel her absence on those days.  But I know that the first year was the hardest and the saddest of times on birthdays and holidays. That first sad year  I really still expected at moments to see her walk in and join me, to hear her voice on the phone.

We all know that Richard is feeling his mother's absence very much today.

Sean Bean is nominated for a BAFTA this year as Leading Actor for Broken.  

The BAFTA's will be held on Sunday, May 13, 2018.  Fingers crossed and sending good vibes for a a much deserved win for Sean.

The Burning of Bridget Cleary

      That you get to fulfill your dream of bringing Richard III's real story to the screen, and to play Richard III (or Warwick). 

      

      That you and Yael Farber get to work together again even if I won't be able to see you on stage in London. But always hope for a play in NY or even Washington DC?

       That you get to work with all the directors you've mentioned in the past you hope to work with.

       That you get to film some of those films you were cast in that somehow never made it beyond pre-production:  Clearance directed by Aku Louhimies, Edith Wharton's Summer,  Mid-Life Crisis 

       That Audible finds who owns the rights to The Lords of the North audiobook that you recorded years ago and releases it again so a wider audience can experience your amazing performance. 

       That the BBC or HBO decides to produce a series based on the Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov, and casts you as one of the leads. (Woland maybe?)

        That someone casts you in a movie that requires you to sing and play the cello in character. Not a musical, since I know you don't want to return to that, but a movie that requires the characters to be involved in music or the music industry in some way so you have to sing and play the cello. (This wish is for me).

Those were really the years, 2009-2010, that I knew I wanted to find other fans, well-wishers, supporters, whatever we individually and collectively want to call ourselves these days.  

I miss those early fandom days. I miss The Hobbit days. Not because I love Richard less, he's now part of my life every day. But I am less connected to the fandom than I felt I was in those times.

What a wonderful work year this has been for you.

From The Crucible to Brain on Fire

What a wonderful year this has been for us too, your fans/well-wishers.  It has always been, and continues to be, a wonderful adventure to follow your career.  

I've been quietly celebrating that it's been ten years this year since I first saw you as John Thornton.  

You have been a revelation as The Great Red Dragon my dear, and I can't believe there are only two episodes left.  I hadn't watched Hannibal before, but once again you helped me discover something I've enjoyed, something I wouldn't have discovered if not for you.

It's been fun also to join the Fannibals on Thursdays and now Saturdays to watch you become both Francis and the Red Dragon. (And I also lurk on Wednesdays). I'm not quite a Fannibal, but it has been such fun again to be part of a global group having fun with the moment, and being part of your moment to shine. (And amazed at how scary yet vulnerable your Francis is.) I haven't felt this much part of a world group dynamic since The Hobbit premieres. Yes, I miss those too already. Will you miss them, I wonder. 

Any Hobbit EE fan events in NYC this fall? Just asking.

Bravo for all the universally wonderful reviews of your performance as Francis Dolarhyde and the Red Dragon. So well deserved and I'm in awe.  My wish is that the elusive American audience will finally, finally, discover how wonderful you are.

So excited for the future, all the films you've worked on that we have yet to see, and the ones we know you'll be working on, and all the movies, TV shows, book narrations, and etc. you will surprise and enthrall us with in the future to come.

And all the interviews.  I love your interviews. 

Thank you for all the books I would have never read, or listened to, or known about, or explored,if not for you. Thank you for all the authors I've discovered.  I started a list on the blog of the most recent Armitage related/recommended books I'm reading. You are  my Book Guru.

I know it has to be challenging at times, Twitter I mean.  I wasn't one of the ones that wanted you to join Twitter, I didn't think you would. But I am very grateful and happy that you did and appreciate all you share with us. Always enjoy when you tease us or tweet us clues we have fun trying to decipher. I do hope you also find some true enjoyment being on Twitter and having us, your fans/well-wishers, share a few moments with you.  At least I hope you enjoy Twitter most of the time. Happy Birthday Sean Bean - Have a Lovely Day

As a Sean Bean fan, and a fan of his alter ego Richard Sharpe, I'm so looking forward to The Battle of Waterloo with Sean Bean, a new documentary for the History Channel.

I imagine that filming this documentary brought back some beautiful memories for Sean.

As a Sharpe fan, looking forward to the documentary brings back many memories. There are times when I miss those days very much. Miss the thrill of expecting a new Sharpe series.  I know that dear Sean, like me, remembers those dark days before the Internet, Netflix, or Amazon.  

Since I live in the US I had to be pretty enterprising to watch the show. You see PBS, or my local PBS (Public Television) stations decided to only show a few episodes of the Sharpe series before, without any warning, taking it away. However,  I'll be forever grateful to them for putting me on some Public TV mailing lists, because they brought these catalogs with all sorts of UK TV shows for purchase to my door. (Remember catalogs? They used to come in the snail mail.)  Pretty expensive for me at the time, those VHS tapes. They brought Sharpie back into my life, after being betrayed by my local PBS station. I'm sure Simmerson had something to do with it. 

(Remember those VHS tapes Sean?) 

I still have the entire Sharpe series on VHS, except now I also have the entire Sharpe series, including the most recent episodes, on DVD.  They are very dear to me.

Dear Sean, as you celebrate your birthday today, do you think there's the possibility of one last new episode of Sharpe? There's Sharpe's Devil (the book) which has not been filmed. I'm sure Daragh/Harper is ready for another adventure. And you know we all want Sharpe to reunite with his daughter.
