LOTR 30 Day Challenge - Day 4: Scene that Makes you Cry

I'm going to cheat a bit on today's challenge and post two scenes instead of one. There's the scene that brings tears to my eyes every time I see it, even after seeing it dozens or more times...and you might guess which one it is....

Then there's this scene in the video just below that never made me cry before last year, but now makes me cry just like Gimli.

(SPOILERS for those that have only seen the first Hobbit film and have not seen the LOTR films, or read Tolkien's work)

Yes, that Balin, is our Balin:

and the skeleton next to him with the big book in his hands is:

The second scene that always makes me cry - Aragorn and Boromir

  1. Agreed on both counts. It was so sad when I realised that the remains in Moria were of our beloved dwarves :( Having said that the tie-in is very moving.
I'd have to add Boromir's death, to the mix, but then that would invite more options and we'll probably end up choosing about 50% of the entire trilogy ;)

    1. Boromir's death always makes me cry. When that moment comes, I always hope in one corner of my heart that the others will get there in time and he will live.

  2. PS. I'm really enjoying the LOTR challenge, it feels like Christmas ;)
Just wanted to add, and I hope you don't mind, that the blog feels a bit sticky, it doesn't scroll down well and jerks. I thought that maybe it was my slow internet, but it feels the same when I'm connected to a faster one. There so much amazing content here so I hope you don't mind that I mention that as an afterthought :)

    1. Hello, I don't mind that you mention it, I just don't know how to fix it, or what causes it, so I'm stuck. Thank you for visiting and trying in any case and for letting me know.

  3. Today it's fine, as my computer has filtered some content here, so it's probably the videos, but then you have such fascinating stuff that I'd rather have the sticky scrolling but see it :)
