Hello Sweet Prince - May Flights of Angels Bring Thee to My Ears

Yes, I know, the news is already out there all over the fandom, but I'm so excited about it I just had to post it on my blog.

Richard Armitage to perform Hamlet, a Novel

We are thrilled to announce that the Hamlet, a Novel, the follow-up to the critically acclaimed international bestseller Macbeth, a Novel, co-written by A.J. and David Hewson will be out on audio on May 20th, performed by the incomparable Richard Armitage.
Armitage has a history of playing Shakespeare but is probably best known internationally for his portrayal of Thorin Oakenshield in the recent Hobbit movies, as well as Guy of Gisborne in the BBC’s Robin Hood, Lucas North in Spooks and John Thornton in North and South.
As with Macbeth, a Novel, A.J. and David have set out to retell a version of Shakespeare’s story in the style of a period thriller, full of intrigue and excitement, giving Armitage a full cast of characters with which to demonstrate his considerable reach and power as an actor, as well as utilizing the rich musicality of his voice!.

"...I’m going to find something which I really want to do, and I’d love doing. And it will probably be something classical I think."

Another David Bowie Song Video - Stormy Monday - Memory Lane

There was a time when I seemed to have been inspired by David Bowie's music to make a fan video or two, or three. I posted about two of my other videos on Bowie's birthday recently.  Here is a third video that's about 4 years old and features Sean Bean and the movie Stormy Monday.

Happy Valentine's Day 2014

Wishing you all a Happy Valentine's Day

My friends, readers, followers, and fellow fans

I don't have a Valentine's of my own

But I wish a Happy Valentine's Day to my two Favorite
Fantasy Valentines

Thoughts of them keep me warm on this very snowy winter's day

Richard Armitage and Sean Bean

 Sonnet XI

I crave your mouth, your voice, your hair.
Silent and starving, I prowl through the streets.
Bread does not nourish me, dawn disrupts me, all day
I hunt for the liquid measure of your steps.

I hunger for your sleek laugh,
your hands the color of a savage harvest,
hunger for the pale stones of your fingernails,
I want to eat your skin like a whole almond.

I want to eat the sunbeam flaring in your lovely body,
the sovereign nose of your arrogant face,
I want to eat the fleeting shade of your lashes,

and I pace around hungry, sniffing the twilight,
hunting for you, for your hot heart,
like a puma in the barrens of Quitratue.

New Jed Brophy Interview with Critics Associated - Armitage, Brophy, and Mortensen in a Western?

I may have mentioned before that one of my favorite dwarves (yes, I have them also Sir Ian) is Nori, especially Nori's human, Jed Brophy.

He always gives very thoughtful and interesting interviews, and he did again recently for Critics Associated.

One very important thing that Jed and I share is our admiration for this guy called Richard Armitage!!

A few wonderful quotes about RA from JB: there anything you have not tried yet that you would like to have a go at? Perhaps a specific role, or project (filmic or not)?

…make a great Western with Richard Armitage, Bernard Hill and Viggo. That would be fantastic.

What scene in The Hobbit: There and Back Again you most look forward to see on the big screen?

I think the Battle of the five armies and in particular our charge out of the fortress. We had been waiting two years to do that scene and on the morning we filmed Richard Armitage  turned to me and the gleam in his eye said it all. He said to me , “We have been waiting two years to do this and I can see you are ready”. He was so much our king in that single moment. It was like the charge of the Rohirrim in the Return of the King which I was also lucky to be a part of. Just …..well hard to describe, but very emotional.

Richard III: Equal Time for Leicester and York

Video from Leicester

(I recently finished an online course about Richard III's life and times from the University of Leicester and FutureLearn, and the narrator's voice I'm sure is our professor's voice. Nice find for me this morning.)
